HARRISONVILLE – The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced recently that a project in an area of the state affected by weather related disasters during 2008 has been approved for supplemental Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.

The funding was approved by Congress with the passage of the Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act of 2009 (Public Law 110-329), which appropriated $6.5 billion in CDBG funds for expenses related to disaster relief, long-term recovery, and restoration of infrastructure, housing and economic revitalization in areas affected by hurricanes, flooding and other natural disasters that occurred during 2008 and for which a presidential disaster declaration was issued.

Governor Carcieri and the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) recently announced the terms and conditions for the RIEDC Small Business Loan Fund’s (SBLF) Emergency Flood Fund.

“The damages to buildings and equipment caused by the historic flooding we are experiencing, along with interruptions in business operations, have been a blow to many small businesses that are already struggling,” said Governor Carcieri. “It is imperative that we move quickly to provide emergency capital to businesses as they work to get up and running again.”

Gov. Joe Manchin has announced that in addition to the $2 million increase provided for in the just-approved state budget, he will seek an additional $5.5 million to allow more West Virginia seniors to take advantage the state’s Medicaid Aged and Disabled Waiver (A/D) program.

“We applaud the governor for taking this initiative,” said Sen. Roman Prezioso, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Resources. “Our state’s senior citizens are among our most valuable assets, and we need to provide them the opportunity to live with grace in their homes for as long as it is financially possible for the state.”
